AAA External Funding
As a Novartis group company, AAA may provide external funding to legitimate organizations in the interest of driving its mission to improve healthcare, advance scientific/medical knowledge or support the communities where AAA Associates live and work.
The applicant will be responsible for the application, content and implementation of any activity that receives AAA support, including compliance with laws and regulations.

Applying for funding
Applications must outline a clear and defined purpose and transparent objectives, deliverables, milestones and outcomes as appropriate and directly related to AAA Areas of Interest.
Applications will only be accepted from legitimate organizations and not from individuals.
Funding may be provided in the form of grants. A grant is an unsolicited, independently requested monetary contribution for a specified purpose to support medical/scientific research, education, policy initiatives, and patient advocacy activities where AAA will receive no benefit. Grants will not be provided to political parties. Please note that an Investigator Initiated Trial (IIT) or study funding request is not to be considered as a grant.
Sponsorships & Memberships:
Novartis may provide funding to nonprofit healthcare or healthcare-related organizations to support a variety of healthcare-related activities or events that align with our goal of improving public health.
Sponsorship and membership requests are required to have tangible benefits.
How do I submit a grant and/ or a sponsorship or membership request?
For all countries except for the United States of America (“ex-US”), grants and sponsorship applications are only received through the Novartis GEMS (Grants, External Studies and Managed Access System) Portal by clicking here: Submit a grant request (ex-US).
United States of America:
To submit a medical grant, or patient advocacy sponsorship or grant application in the United States of America (US), please click here to access the US country page and see specific information for medical or patient advocacy funding requests. Any other US sponsorship requests should be directed to appropriate AAA contacts.
Guidance on using the GEMS Portal is available here:
AAA Germany is not supported in the GEMS Tool. For all Grants & Sponsorships requests in Germany, please reach out to the appropriate AAA contact in Medical Affairs.
AAA France Grants should be submitted through the GEMS Tool. For Sponsorships requests in France, please reach out to the appropriate AAA contact in Medical Affairs.
How are applications evaluated?
Once received, each request will be reviewed carefully and fairly by the appropriate AAA experts with every effort made to provide a response once we have all the necessary information.
Please note that your request will be assessed in consideration of applicable local laws and regulations.
Please do not consider any request approved until you have received written documentation from AAA that your application has been approved for funding and all of the required paperwork, including a counter-signed original Letter of Agreement, has been received by you. Any expenses incurred prior to receiving written support of the program by AAA are taken at your own risk.
Previous support by AAA does NOT guarantee future support as each request is evaluated on individual merit.
AAA will review each submission in a timely manner. Your prompt response to requests for any additional information is critical to this process and appreciated.
Novartis is aware of the growing need for education and support for the medical and patient/caregiver communities. Many more requests are received than can be funded and we regret that we cannot accommodate every request. However, your submission will receive a fair and thorough review. In return, please take time to consider how your program fits within the therapeutic areas of interest for Novartis and the established regulations, laws and guidelines before submitting a request.
